My name is Ryan Black (at center in picture) and I am
an assistant professor in the political science
department at Michigan State University.
I study and teach about the judiciary, with a particular emphasis on the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Courts of Appeals.
My research has been published or is forthcoming in a variety of peer-reviewed university presses, journals, and law reviews. It has also been funded by the National Science Foundation.
Outside of work, I enjoy baseball (of the Minnesota Twins variety), reading, traveling, playing squash, learning piano, and getting research advice from Bailey and Hunter, my two beagle mixes (at left and right in picture, respectively).
