My name is Ryan Black (at center in picture) and I am
an assistant professor in the political science
department at Michigan State University.
I study and teach about the judiciary, with a particular emphasis on the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Courts of Appeals.
My research has been published or is forthcoming in a variety of peer-reviewed journals and law reviews. It has also been funded by the National Science Foundation.
Outside of work, I enjoy baseball (of the Minnesota Twins variety), reading, traveling, playing squash, and getting research advice from Bailey and Hunter, my two beagle mixes (at left and right in picture, respectively).
